1. Machine Tool Overall Layout
The VMC1160 vertical machining center adopts a vertical frame structure with the column fixed to the bed. The spindle head moves vertically along the column (Z-axis), the saddle moves longitudinally along the bed (Y-axis), and the worktable moves transversely along the saddle (X-axis). Key components such as the bed, worktable, saddle, column, and spindle head are made from high-strength cast iron using resin sand molding technology. These components undergo double stress-relief aging treatment and are optimized via Pro/E and Ansys simulations to enhance structural rigidity and stability, effectively minimizing deformation and vibration caused by cutting forces.
2. Drive System
Three-axis guide ways: Equipped with imported linear rolling guides featuring low static/dynamic friction, high sensitivity, minimal high-speed vibration, no low-speed crawling, and superior positioning accuracy. This ensures excellent servo drive performance and enhances machining precision and stability.
Direct coupling: Three-axis servo motors are directly connected to high-precision ball screws via flexible couplings, eliminating intermediate components for backlash-free transmission, flexible feed, and accurate positioning.
Z-axis safety: The Z-axis servo motor includes an automatic brake function that engages during power failure to lock the motor shaft, ensuring safety.
3. Spindle Assembly
Manufactured by a specialized Taiwanese supplier, the spindle assembly offers high precision and rigidity. Equipped with P4-grade precision spindle bearings, the entire assembly undergoes dynamic balancing and run-in testing in a temperature-controlled environment to extend service life and reliability. The spindle features infinitely variable speed control within its range.
4. Tool Magazine
Robotic tool changer: Mounted on the column side, the tool disk is driven and positioned by a roller cam mechanism.
Automatic Tool Changer (ATC): Utilizes a preloaded gear cam mechanism for fast, quiet, and precise tool exchange (tool release/loading) once the spindle reaches the designated position.
5. Cutting Cooling System
High-capacity cooling: Includes a high-flow coolant pump (0.48 kW, 3 bar pressure) and large tank for efficient circulation.
Dual-mode cooling: The spindle head features switchable air/water cooling nozzles controllable via M-code or panel operation.
Cleaning: An air gun is provided for machine maintenance.
6. Pneumatic System
Filtration: The pneumatic triple unit removes impurities and moisture from the air supply to prevent component damage/corrosion.
PLC-controlled valves: Ensure rapid and precise execution of spindle tool release, center air blast, tool clamping, and air cooling.
7. Lubrication System
Centralized auto-lubrication: Delivers metered oil to guide ways and ball screws via quantitative distributors, reducing friction, improving motion accuracy, and prolonging component lifespan.
8. Machine Protection
Full enclosure: Complies with safety standards, preventing coolant splashing while ensuring operator safety and aesthetic appeal.
Guideway covers: Shield against chips and coolant ingress to protect ball screws and guides from wear/corrosion.
9. Chip Conveyor (Optional)
Y-axis split guards: Direct chips onto the bed, where an internal inclined surface guides them to a bottom-mounted chain conveyor. Chain conveyor: Features high capacity, low noise, overload protection, and compatibility with various chip types (fragmented or coiled).
